Wednesday March 10th paddle
The Venice-Lemon Bay Kayakers will have a kayak trip with a launch time of 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 10th launching from Phillippi Estates Park in Sarasota with a destination of up river. The trip will be about 3 hours in duration, 7 miles long, rated as intermediate and will be guided by Bill Goba.
"Launch time of 10:00am" means that you are in the water and ready to paddle. Please allow ample time for travel, unloading you kayaks, and preparing for the trip. There is about a 140-yard carry over a concrete sidewalk from the parking area to the launch point, so plan accordingly.
Facilities: Phillippi Estates Park has full facilities. Parking is asphalt. The launch point is sand/shell.
Directions: If northbound on Hwy. 41 in South Sarasota, go past Economy Tackle and a Texaco station to the traffic light at Constitution St. Turn left (west) into Philippi Estates, follow the road to the right then left and go past the administrative building and park near three gazebos. A fishing pier is visible from the parking area; the launch point is adjacent to the pier. If southbound on Hwy. 41 in South Sarasota cross the three Philippi Creek bridges and turn right (west) at the traffic light at Constitution St. and follow the above directions.

Saturday March 13th paddle
The Venice-Lemon Bay Kayakers will have a kayak trip with a launch time of 10:00am on Saturday March 13th, launching from the North Jetty in Nokomis to waters in the area. This trip will be about 4 hours in duration, 8 miles long, is rated as intermediate and will be guided by Bob Phelps.
“Launch time of 10:00 a.m.” means that you are in the water and ready to paddle. Please allow ample time for travel, unloading your kayaks and preparing for the trip.
Facilities: The parking area is sandy; there are picnic tables, trashcans and restrooms nearby.
Directions: From Hwy. 41 in Nokomis, go west on Albee Rd., cross the ICW bridge to Casey Key Rd, turn left (south) and continue south until reaching the North Jetty Fish Camp, turn left (east) to a sandy launch area on the ICW.
